Anthony "Antonio" Martinez: A Legacy of Service for Colorado
A fifth-generation Colorado native and dedicated labor leader, Anthony "Antonio" Martinez is a steadfast advocate for the state's working people. Born in the San Luis Valley, Antonio's deep roots in the community and centuries-long family history shape his commitment to public service and his passion for improving the lives of all Coloradans.
A Career in Public Service
Antonio's career is marked by a lifelong dedication to public service, spanning both state and federal leadership roles. As a former Colorado State Executive Director, he has collaborated with a wide range of officials, from governors and state legislators to mayors and commissioners, earning a reputation for being a "workers first" champion. His experience is vast, including work with critical state agencies such as the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Department of Transportation, Departments of Public Safety, Corrections, National Guard, Public Health, and the Department of Health Care Policy and Finance, among others. He was also appointed by the Governor to serve as a State e-Health Commissioner.
Antonio's commitment to service extends his 32-year career in federal leadership under eight presidential administrations. A decorated combat veteran, he served as a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and Special Operations Officer in Afghanistan, Iraq, and North Africa. His federal experience includes key roles as an advisor to the Chief Operations Officer at the U.S. Department of Treasury, Deputy Director at the U.S. Department of Energy, and as a Senior Diplomat and Director at the U.S. Department of State. He continues to apply federal policy, national security, education, public health, and budget expertise to support Colorado's agriculture, energy, education, public safety, commerce and public health sectors.
Education and Personal Life
Antonio holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Science from the University of Denver, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.
Outside of his professional life, Antonio is a rural Colorado ranch owner who remains passionate about how political issues impact local communities. He is a proud graduate of Antonito High School in Conejos County. When not working, he enjoys hiking and exploring Colorado’s great outdoors. He and his wife, a career educator and licensed school counselor, live an exhilarating Colorado life with their pets.

Boost the economy with new housing and affordable living initiatives.
Increase wages and create wealth for families by raising the minimum wage.
Repeal TABOR to give Colorado the services and support it needs.
Fix the Homelessness Crisis impacting the impoverished, mentally ill and the fastest growing demographic who rely on Social Security as a primary source of income.
Ensure access to paid leave and child care for all workers.
Support rural, small, minority, and women-owned businesses to foster a diverse and robust economic landscape.
Fight to keep U.S. Space Command in Colorado for it’s ideal strategic National Security purposes and the Economy!

Antonio is committed to making Colorado communities safer through a multi-faceted approach to public safety and criminal justice:
Reforming the probation and parole system to reduce recidivism and support successful reintegration.
Investing in violence intervention programs to address the root causes of crime.
Rebuilding trust between communities, schools, and law enforcement through proactive engagement and transparent policies.
Fix the Homelessness Crisis impacting the impoverished, mentally ill and the fastest growing demographic who rely on Social Security as a primary source of income.
